Shaw Public Library Newsletter: April 2026

The Next 100 Years…

Greetings, Moosehead Lake Region and Beyond…

Welcome to the first addition of our newsletter. In the future, we will have these more fine tuned, but we wanted to touch base and make sure to invite you to our open house on Saturday, May 2nd from 10am-1pm.

We recently celebrated our 100th birthday and when we decided to host an open house, it made perfect sense that our theme should be, “The Next 100 Years”  - meaning, everything we do now is preparing the library to stand the test of time for future generations.

So, we heartily invite you all to join us on May 2nd at Shaw public Library where we will have treats, tours, and teasers… we want to show you all the many wonderful updates and changes we’ve made to better serve the community, as well as give some sneak peeks into upcoming events and programs, and future plans to meet that goal of planning for the next 100 years.

PLUS, we’re hosting the most epic Book Barn & DVD sale ever!

** The book sale will help us fundraise for a new urgently needed roof for the annex / children’s library.

As you may or may not know, our children’s annex (the backside of the library) is owned by the Shaw Public Library Association and not the Town of Greenville. So, when something breaks down, in this case, our roof, we have to fundraise to fix the damage. Winter was not kind to our beloved annex roof and we fear as the spring rains come pouring down, they may well leak through and potentially damage our precious books.

We’ve been quoted $30,000 to replace the existing roof - so we have a ways to go, but are already so grateful to those trying to help and showing us their support.

It is a truly amazing and humbling thing to witness the support of our friends and neighbors local or away, and to know that so many of you understand the importance of a local library, as well as our desire to better serve the community. And because of that generosity, whether it be your time, your donated items, gifts from our wish list, or financial help when fundraising - your efforts help ensure we can keep serving the community.

Thank you for being members of Shaw Public Library and we look forward to seeing you soon. And we hope you can join us on May 2nd for our open house and a day of fun celebration as we look to the future… and celebrate how far we have come so far.

See you soon,

Rachel Daigle - Library Director.
