Poetry Workshop

Poetry doesn’t have to be scary, daunting, or even serious! It’s just another way for the written word to express the ideas and thoughts of the author writing them, just like fiction or non-fiction! Even if you’ve never written anything before, poetry is a great way to start finding your voice in writing, and its one of the most accessible forms of writing there is!

Join the Shaw Public Library in sending off National Poetry Month in style – with your very own poem! Hosted by Shaw’s own Tobi, this poetry workshop will include two main phases.

1) “What is Poetry?” where we will explore some of the many forms of poetry, literary devices, and some examples to see how it all works together.

2) “How do YOU write Poetry?”, where we will offer some prompts and ideas to get those creative juices flowing and get cracking at writing your very own poems!

We’ll supply the pencils and paper, so get creative, bring a friend (or two, or three!) and get writing!

April 30th at 4:00pm, we hope to see you there!
